Fondue Party
Whoever insisted that music is the food of love should really be invited to a fondue party. The three of us thanked our lucky stars when we were invited to one, graciously hosted by Nelly (French exchange studentl) over at her place. I have got to admit, I am a chocoholic, these brown stuffs just drive me crazy. Cadbury, Sneakers, Mars, Hershey's, Kit Kat, Van Houtan's, you name it, I've tasted it, but I dare say, non of these even come close to a fondue experience. Laden on the table at Nelly's place was an extravagant spread of fruits, french loaves, cereals, bread sticks and of course, the ubiquitous marshmallows. Dipping fruits into the chocolate fondue and savoring it with wine is a heavenly experience, and without a doubt, this is the food of god. My personal favourite would be grapes dipped with the fondue, if you guys love those chocolates with raisins and dried grapes embedded within, this will definitely blow you away.
The undisputed highlight for the party, viscous and rich creamy molten chocolate. Jean (Nelly's boyfriend) had a huge hand in preparing the chocolate.
Fruits were sliced and diced to bite-size pieces, in French, "Parfait!".
The host for this superb fondue party, Nelly, a demure looking and petite French girl from Nice. She rocks!
In true 'makan' fashion, the three of us wolved down most of the food at the fondue party. But the stream of food was endless! Nelly must have prepared the party for a crowd of at least 30 people!
The French, from left: Jean, ,Nicholas, Pauline, Audrey and Chloe (she really reminds me of models you see on the covers of magazines endorsing perfumes or LV handbags).
EMMA! Indispensible in any party, she just radiates joy and fun with her presence. I think I'm gonna miss her most when this exchange ends.
I guess Audrey is the most eloquent and witty French exchange student I've met so far (hardly surprising, she's doing a major in English).
In danger of becoming diabetic if the gluttony continues at the fondue party, the three of us reluctantly put down our forks and finally put our system to 'rest' mode. The rest of the evening was spent with rounds of chatting, plenty of dancing (Audrey was especially high that night!) and drinking, it was a beautiful way to end the week. Bisous and merci Nelly! The fondue was délicieux!
