The odyssey begins...
My apologies for this belated entry, but my dear readers, let's try to understand how hectic it can get during the final phase of preparation for this journey. The three of us arranged to meet up at Changi airport at 0230, half an hour before check in time. For someone who is perpetually late and hardly has any concept of puntuality, I arrived right on time at the airport. I was the earliest, followed by Allan, then it was Mr Li who clinched the last place. Due to the adrenaline rush, I guess none of us slept a wink and still managed to look pretty fresh.
Checked in our luggage at 0300 sharp, and once again, I'm impressed/pissed by Singapore's muli-tiered security system. Just a casual mention, while Jiahao and Allan managed to get their check in done without any mishap, I was told that they (the airport's custom officers) will be doing a random check on my luggages. Holding back the torrent of swear words I would normally have unleashed, I put on the most cooperative demeanour possible and the brightest smile I could muster to the custom officer.
Custom officer (while rummaging through my stuffs), "Any prohibited items?"
Me, "Nope."
Custom officer (continued rummaging throught my stuffs), "Any medications or liquid items in your hand carry luggage?"
Me (smile fading fast from cheek muscles that are about to cramp any minute), "Nope."
Custom officer (Plastic glove she was wearing got caught in the zip of my luggage), "Wah lau... Stupid gloves..."
Me (smile beamed naturally and brightly), "It's ok, take your time. *shit happens*"
*The whole process took about 10 minutes, during which the chain of curses and swear words running latenly through my mind must have been sufficient to be complied into a dictionary. *
After the check in, Jiahao's photophilic side surface, the photos shown below is a fraction of what he took before we leave Singapore.
me nd Jiahao before checking in.
Jiahao and Allan before checking in.
Jiahao, bursting with excitement.
Obviously too slack to walk.
Jiahao is the only one who has enough energy to smile for the camera.
(Due to strict security measures, photo taking was prohibited at the gates, Jiahao took alot more pictures before we board the plane)
0530 Singapore time, boarding at gate D44 commences. 3 of us boarded the plane bound for Narita Japan with a mixed feeling of anticipation and trepidation. The odyssey has begun.
